Where There’s One, There’s Ten
It was a dark and stormy night. I was driving my Ford 2006 GT along a dark road late at night. I don't visit this side of town often, and I had a hard time figuring out where I was. As I crept along the road, I knew something was going to happen. I wasn’t sure what, but I knew it wasn’t going to be good. Something didn’t feel right. Then, I saw something move in the bushes. I thought it was an animal that needed help, so I stopped to see what it was. I sat with the headlights on, waiting for it to reappear.
Soon, I saw glowing red eyes peering out at me from the forest. Next, a thin slimy arm reached out from behind the trees. Then, a scaly, green leg. As it came out from behind the trees, I saw that it was an enormous beast! My heart jumped into my throat! It must have been six feet tall, with sharp fangs, black claws, and a huge yellow fin down its back. It walked closer with its webbed feet, leaving wet tracks on the road. As it crossed in front of my headlights, it saw me in the driver’s seat. I stopped immediately. It peered into the windshield. I nearly fainted, but I resisted, otherwise it would know it could eat me. Suddenly it let out a piercing shriek. I did the same, but for different reasons. Then just as soon as it appeared, it lumbered off into the forest on the other side of the road.
I sat there, not knowing what to do, after what just happened. Once I caught my breath, I put the car in drive, and raced into town, and didn't stop until I got to the police station. I ran inside, covered in sweat, and told my story to an officer. “Oh please. that sounds ridiculous. You must have just been tired,” she said as she took my statement. I knew he thought I was crazy, but as I was about to leave, I saw her put my statement in a big box, filled with papers, labeled “GIANT REPTILE SIGHTINGS.” before I stepped out, I
questioned “Where did other people see the beast?” “All over,” she replied. Just then, I heard another piercing shriek. She must have too, because her face turned white. So did mine. We both knew we couldn’t leave, or we would get eaten. It was getting closer. We had little time before it would reach us. We hid under a desk, when it smashed through the wall, and searched for food.
When it wasn’t looking, we ran outside, hopped in my car, and I put the pedal to the metal. The officer called the S.W.A.T. team and Secret Service. The bloodthirsty beast was now chasing us. Within half an hour, both of the services were chasing the beast. We had crossed over state border. We could now call the F.B.I. We did, and they came rushing over. Then, I got an idea. I decided to think out loud. “If we get a DNA sample, then we could find out what this mutant beast is, what made it a mutant, and where the source of it all is.”
We told the teams my idea, and we put the plan into action. We tranquilized it, tripped it, and took a DNA sample. We put the beast in a lockdown chamber, in Area 51, in a tube that freezes the beast. The beast was actually had very little toxic waste in it, meaning all that the toxic waste did was fuse reptiles together, but what? The beast (now named TIER-03 as a code name) was too powerful to be contained. It broke out, and the chemicals cloned the mutant reptile over and over. The alarms blared as the beast smashed through the walls, and evacuated as the alams annoyed him. TIER-03 was now on the loose, with all of his clones.
Everybody’s phone filled with alarms saying “STAGE 3 EVACUATION. LEAVE THE CONTINENTS OF THE FOLLOWING: NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICA UNTIL
FURTHER NOTICE. DO NOT PANIC.” Nobody followed the last step. Everyone panicked. They may have panicked, but they did evacuate. Workers at Area 51 tried to catch TIER-03 and his clones. They did, and they sent out another alert saying that it was safe to come back to the americas.
This isn’t the end. Much was destroyed, and many still had sightings of the beast. It was true that Area 51 miscounted the cloned beasts. There was still one on the loose. This one beast was growing bigger as it ate more. More and more plans failed, and many evacuated. The one thing that Area 51 didn’t try was put the beast in water. TIER-03’s weakness is water.
They made a big pool, and trapped the beast in it. It started to separate into the original reptiles. They did the same with the other TIER-03s, and let the animals go into the wild. The toxic waste left behind gave many answers. It came from the newest nuclear power plant. The waste was left uncontrolled, and it leaked into a river, washed up on the shoreline, and nobody noticed. The reptiles were going through the rivers and shoreline, and the toxic waste fused them together. The case is finally solved. What started out as one, turned into 10, and ended as none, is now gone forever. Or is it?
